Privacy policy
Last updated: September 11, 2026
CHUHU ("CHUHU," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you visit chuhulife.com or another website where this Policy is posted, create an account, purchase or consider our furniture and home goods, visit or communicate with one of our stores or service teams, or use our delivery, storage, assembly, design, warranty, or other related services (collectively, the "Services").
For purposes of applicable privacy law, the business responsible for your personal information is [INSERT FULL LEGAL ENTITY NAME AND JURISDICTION], with an address at [INSERT BUSINESS/PRIVACY ADDRESS].
"Personal information" means information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked with an individual or household. It does not include information that is publicly available or deidentified or aggregated so that it cannot reasonably be linked to you.
1. Personal Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on how you interact with us and which Services you use. We may collect the following categories:
- Contact and identity information, such as your name, email address, telephone number, billing address, shipping or delivery address, and alternate delivery contact.
- Account information, such as your login credentials, saved addresses, wish lists, communication preferences, and account settings. Passwords are stored in protected form by our commerce or authentication providers, not in readable form.
- Order and commercial information, such as products viewed, added to a cart, purchased, returned, or exchanged; customization selections; order history; invoices; discounts; and transaction status.
- Payment and transaction information, such as billing details, payment method type, transaction identifiers, payment authorization status, and fraud-screening results. Payment card information is collected and processed by our payment providers. CHUHU does not store complete payment card numbers or card security codes.
- Delivery, storage, and assembly information, such as delivery instructions, availability, access restrictions, stairway or elevator measurements, service-elevator reservations, loading-dock details, parking information, building rules, Certificate of Insurance requirements, delivery inspection records, and signatures or other proof of delivery.
- Customer service, design, return, and warranty information, such as messages, call or chat details, measurements, order notes, survey responses, and photos or videos you provide to request design assistance, document product condition, report transit damage, or obtain warranty service.
- Reviews and other content, such as product ratings, reviews, photos, videos, and social-media content you choose to submit or authorize us to use. Content submitted for public posting may be visible to others.
- Marketing and preference information, such as newsletter or text-message subscriptions, promotion entries, product interests, consent records, and opt-out choices.
- Device, browsing, and usage information, such as IP address, browser and device type, operating system, device or cookie identifiers, referring URLs, pages and products viewed, searches, cart activity, clicks, session timing, approximate location derived from IP address, and website errors or performance data.
- Inferences, such as likely product, material, room, or style preferences derived from your browsing and purchase activity.
- Fraud-prevention and security information, such as risk signals, account activity, and information needed to authenticate a transaction, protect an account, or investigate suspected misuse.
Please do not send us government identification numbers, financial account credentials, precise geolocation, health information, or other highly sensitive information unless we specifically request it and explain why it is needed.
2. How We Collect Personal Information
We collect personal information:
- Directly from you, including when you browse or shop, create an account, contact us, request delivery or assembly, visit a store, submit a review, join a promotion, or request support or warranty service.
- Automatically, through cookies, pixels, software development kits, log files, and similar technologies when you use our Services.
- From service providers and business partners, such as Shopify, payment processors, fraud-prevention providers, delivery and assembly partners, marketing and analytics providers, customer-service platforms, and warranty providers.
- From other sources, such as updated address or delivery information from carriers, referrals, social-media platforms when you interact with our pages or authorize a connection, and publicly available sources where permitted by law.
3. How We Use Personal Information
We may use personal information to:
- process payments; confirm, manufacture, fulfill, and deliver orders; provide invoices; and manage returns, exchanges, refunds, storage, and warranties;
- coordinate specialized freight, delivery windows, building access, proof of delivery, furniture placement, and assembly with carriers and white-glove service teams;
- provide customer care, design assistance, product support, damage-claim handling, warranty service, safety notices, and product recalls;
- create and manage accounts, wish lists, preferences, and other requested features;
- operate, maintain, personalize, troubleshoot, secure, analyze, and improve our websites, stores, products, and Services;
- communicate with you about transactions, orders, deliveries, service appointments, policy changes, and other administrative matters;
- send marketing communications where permitted by law and consistent with your choices;
- measure campaign performance and, where permitted, provide or facilitate personalized advertising;
- detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, and other unlawful activity;
- comply with law, court orders, regulatory obligations, tax and accounting requirements, and enforce our agreements; and
- support a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, bankruptcy, or similar corporate transaction.
Where a law requires a legal basis for processing, we rely as appropriate on performance of a contract, compliance with legal obligations, our legitimate interests (including operating, improving, and securing the Services), your consent, or another basis permitted by law.
4. Sharing and Disclosure of Information
We may disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients for the purposes described in this Policy:
- Commerce and technology providers, including Shopify and providers that support hosting, account management, checkout, cloud storage, communications, customer service, security, and website operations.
- Payment and fraud-prevention providers, which process payments, verify transactions, and help prevent fraud. Their handling of payment information may also be governed by their own privacy notices.
- Freight, logistics, storage, delivery, and assembly partners, which receive information needed to schedule, transport, store, deliver, inspect, place, and assemble your order.
- Customer-support, design, returns, and warranty partners, which assist with requests, product advice, repairs, claims, replacements, and warranty service.
- Analytics, marketing, and advertising partners, which help us understand use of the Services, measure campaigns, communicate with customers, and, where permitted, deliver more relevant advertising.
- Professional advisers, such as auditors, insurers, lawyers, accountants, and consultants, subject to appropriate confidentiality duties.
- Government authorities and other parties for legal or safety reasons, when we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to comply with law or valid legal process, protect rights and property, investigate fraud or security issues, enforce our agreements, or protect customers, personnel, or the public.
- Parties to a corporate transaction, including actual or prospective buyers, investors, lenders, and advisers involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of some or all of our business or assets.
- Other parties at your direction or with your consent.
We do not disclose personal information to service providers for purposes unrelated to the services they provide to us, except as permitted by law and described in this Policy.
5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We and our providers use cookies, pixels, tags, local storage, and similar technologies to:
- keep the website and checkout functioning;
- remember your cart, region, language, and preferences;
- protect accounts and detect fraud;
- understand website traffic, product interest, and performance; and
- measure marketing and, where permitted, personalize advertising on our Services or other websites.
When you first interact with our website, you can review and manage your cookie preferences through the Privacy Settings pop-up window displayed at the bottom of our website. You may also control cookies through your browser or device settings. Blocking certain cookies may prevent features such as account login, saved shopping carts, or checkout from working properly. Where required by applicable law, we obtain your consent before placing or using non-essential cookies.
Some privacy laws define disclosures made through advertising cookies, pixels, or similar technologies as a “sale,” “sharing,” or use of personal information for “targeted advertising,” even when no money changes hands. CHUHU does not sell personal information for money. We may share identifiers and Internet or other electronic network activity information with advertising and analytics partners for cross-context behavioral advertising. Where applicable, when you first interact with our website, you may opt out of this sharing and targeted advertising through the Privacy Settings pop-up window displayed at the bottom of our website.
Your cookie preferences generally apply to the browser and device on which you make your selection. If you use another browser or device, or clear your cookies, you may need to update your preferences again. Opting out of targeted advertising does not necessarily mean that you will stop seeing advertisements, but the advertisements you see may be less personalized.
Where required by applicable law, we recognize a browser-enabled Global Privacy Control signal as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and its use for targeted advertising for that browser or device. Because there is currently no universally accepted standard for other “Do Not Track” signals, we do not respond to those signals unless required by law.
6. Shopify and Other Third-Party Services
Our online store is hosted on Shopify. Shopify processes information about your interactions with our store to provide commerce services to us and may also process information for its own consumer services, such as Shop or Shop Pay, when you choose to use them. Shopify's own processing is governed by its applicable privacy notices.
Our Services may link to third-party websites, apps, social networks, payment options, or plug-ins that we do not control. Your interaction with those services is governed by the third party's privacy policy. We encourage you to review it before providing information.
7. Marketing Choices
You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the message or contacting us. If you opt in to marketing text messages, you may opt out by replying STOP or following the instructions in the message. We may still send non-marketing communications needed to complete a transaction, service an order, administer your account, honor a warranty, issue a safety or recall notice, or respond to you.
Please allow a reasonable period for us and our providers to process an opt-out. If you use more than one email address, telephone number, account, browser, or device, you may need to submit a choice for each one.
8. Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to maintain an account or business relationship, fulfill and document transactions, provide warranties and recall notices, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, enforce agreements, and satisfy legal, tax, accounting, and reporting obligations.
The retention period varies by category and context. For example, order and transaction records may be retained for the period required by tax and accounting laws; support, delivery, and warranty records may be kept through the applicable service or warranty period and for a reasonable period afterward; and marketing information may be retained until you opt out, plus records needed to honor that choice. We may retain information longer when required by law, litigation hold, regulatory inquiry, or a valid legal claim. We may also retain deidentified information that cannot reasonably identify you.
9. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, and disclosure. We limit access to personnel and providers that need the information for legitimate business purposes and require appropriate confidentiality and security protections from relevant providers.
No system, storage method, or Internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for notifying us promptly if you believe your account or information has been compromised.
10. Your Privacy Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live and subject to legal exceptions, you may have the right to:
- confirm whether we process your personal information and access or obtain a copy of it;
- correct inaccurate personal information;
- request deletion of personal information;
- obtain certain information in a portable format;
- opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or certain profiling;
- limit certain uses or disclosures of sensitive personal information;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and
- appeal our decision on a privacy request.
To exercise a right, contact us at [INSERT PRIVACY EMAIL] or use the contact form on our Contact Us page. If you are appealing a prior decision, write “Privacy Appeal” in the subject line and explain the request you are appealing.
We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and authority to make the request. We will use verification information only for that purpose. An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted by law, but we may require proof of the agent's authority and may need to verify your identity directly. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
Some information may be exempt from a request. For example, we may retain information necessary to complete a transaction, detect fraud, comply with law, establish or defend legal claims, honor your communication choices, or provide warranty and recall services. Deleting information may limit our ability to locate prior orders, provide returns or warranty support, maintain an online account, or contact you about a product recall.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may have the right to appeal to us or complain to the privacy or data-protection authority where you live.
11. Supplemental Notice for Residents of Certain U.S. States
This section supplements the rest of this Policy for residents of U.S. states with comprehensive consumer privacy laws, including California, when those laws apply to CHUHU.
During the preceding 12 months, we may have collected the categories of personal information described in Section 1 from the sources described in Section 2. We may have used those categories for the business and commercial purposes described in Section 3 and disclosed them for those purposes to the categories of recipients described in Section 4.
For California residents, these categories generally correspond to identifiers; customer records; commercial information; Internet or other electronic network activity; approximate geolocation; audio, electronic, visual, or similar information; professional information if supplied in a trade or design-services context; and inferences. Certain account credentials or payment information may be treated as sensitive personal information under California law. We use sensitive personal information only as reasonably necessary to provide requested goods and services; protect accounts, payments, and systems; prevent fraud; and comply with law, unless we provide a separate notice describing another use.
CHUHU does not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16. For information about disclosures that may be considered a sale, sharing, or targeted advertising, and how to opt out, see Section 5.
California's “Shine the Light” law may permit California residents to request certain information about disclosures of personal information to third parties for their own direct-marketing purposes. Requests may be sent to the contact information in Section 15.
12. International Data Transfers
CHUHU and the providers supporting our Services may process personal information in countries other than the country where you live. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. Where required, we use recognized safeguards for international transfers and provide additional information or a copy of the relevant safeguard upon request.
If privacy law in your location applies to our processing, you may have the rights described in Section 10. Where applicable, you may also complain to your local data-protection authority. Nothing in this Policy limits rights that cannot lawfully be limited.
13. Children's Privacy
The Services are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 or knowingly sell or share their personal information. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so that we can take appropriate action.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes to our practices, Services, or legal obligations. We will post the revised Policy and update the “Last updated” date. If required by law, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent before a material change takes effect.
