Folding Coffee Table with Wheels and Storage, Solid Wood Expandable Coffee Table for Small Spaces
One table that does the work of three. The Muse Folding Coffee Table stays compact as a side table next to the sofa, then flips open into a full size table for games, meals or working on a laptop.
Folded, the top measures 18.1 x 29.1 in (46 x 74 cm). Swing it open and it doubles to 36.2 x 29.1 in (92 x 74 cm), enough room for friends around a board game or an afternoon tea on the balcony. Stainless steel hinges keep the top opening smoothly, and the two halves meet with a narrow seam, so crumbs don't fall through and it wipes clean easily.
Lift the top and a hidden compartment opens up underneath, 22.2 x 8.7 x 3.1 in (56.4 x 22.1 x 8 cm), sized for snacks, coasters or chargers. A slim rail along the side holds your remote. Below, a removable tray slides out to carry things to the kitchen, and a wide open shelf at the bottom holds books, blankets and baskets.
Four 360 degree casters let you roll it from the living room to the bedroom or balcony, and a twist lock holds it in place once it's there. At 21.8 in (55.4 cm) tall, it sits at a comfortable height as a sofa side table or a laptop desk, so you don't have to hunch over.
The top is North American yellow poplar with softly rounded edges, on a stainless steel frame. Each piece is hand stained, then finished with three primer coats and a topcoat for a warm vintage color that shows the natural grain.

NOTES
01 / FOLDS OPEN
One turn and a flip, and the coffee table becomes a small dining size table
Folded, it takes up 3.7 sq ft (0.34 m²) of floor, small enough that a tight living room does not feel any smaller. Swing it open and the top becomes 36.2 x 29.1 in (92 x 74 cm), wide enough that four people around a board game are not bumping elbows. Friends come over and the coffee table becomes the game table. They leave and it folds back to a side table. One motion each way.
02 / WHERE THINGS GO
Storage in three places, so the top stays clear
The side rail takes the remote, which is the one thing nobody can ever find. Under the top, the sunken compartment holds the things you reach for but do not want to look at. The open shelf at the bottom takes magazines, a fruit bowl, a folded blanket. The tray in between slides out and carries to the kitchen. Four places for four kinds of clutter, in a table the size of a side table.
03 / THE HIDDEN COMPARTMENT
Lift the top and the mess goes under it
The top turns open to a compartment 22.2 x 8.7 x 3.1 in (56.4 x 22.1 x 8 cm): snacks, charging cables, coasters, the things that otherwise live on the surface. The opening is wide, so you can see everything at once instead of feeling around. Closed, the top reads as a plain table. Open, it holds more than a table this size looks like it should.
04 / SOLID WOOD
Solid wood all the way through
Solid wood throughout, not plywood with a thin face and not a cheaper species dressed up. It is heavier to make and it is heavier to ship, and it is the difference between a table that lasts and one that swells at the edges in two years. It also means there is no particleboard or MDF core holding the table together, so there is no added formaldehyde binder in it to begin with. For a table a child does homework at, that is worth knowing.
